What’s it all about?

The rules of origami are simple – just one square sheet of paper, no glueing and absolutely no cutting.

In this one night beginners’ class, you will learn to unlock the potential of the simple square and begin to make origami that is fun, elegant and super impressive.

Many people practice origami because it can be relaxing, challenging and rewarding, but it is also a great way to learn patience and concentration.

What will we cover?

The class will involve a brief presentation on the history and theory of origami as well as an introduction to reading diagrams and different folding techniques. The class will focus mostly on learning to make a few traditional origami animal models using live projections.

Afterwards you will be able to take home diagrams and all models that you make, along with extra paper and resources so that you can continue to fold everywhere you go.

Who will be teaching?

Ronan Burder is an origami traditionalist who’s been folding since age 6 after discovering a book in his grandmother’s library. In the 18 years since then he was folded for days at a time through lectures and train rides with every scrap of paper along the way.
