What will we cover?
In this class, we will focus on understanding one of the big ideas in number sense – how to understand fractioning and partitioning from informal and practical everyday experience using concrete materials.
By the end of this class, participants will be able to:
- Review fraction language and ideas using concrete materials
- Add and subtract fractions
- Apply knowledge of fractions in everyday situations involving addition and subtraction
Who will be Teaching?
Pamela is a PhD trained biomedical engineer who loves food, science and books. At the end of 2017, she decided to expand her career prospects and embarked on a steep learning journey to become a qualified Math and Science secondary teacher, completing a Master of Teaching in Math and Science by the end of 2019. At Laneway learning, Pamela teaches a range of science and math classes, including epigenetics, South American drinking tour and the molecular kitchen.
