What’s it all about?
A recent study from Cambridge University and University College London found “striking weaknesses” in adults’ financial skills across 31 countries. Data suggests that as much as a quarter of adults struggle to read a simple financial line graph. As financial literacy is essential to avoid getting into debt or being mislead on money matters, these statistics are quite alarming.
In this class, we will focus on understanding and reading different types of line graphs, with emphasis on those that communicate financial information.
What will we cover?
Join us for a fun and hands-on class, where you’ll develop your ability to use line graphs to answer common real-life situations.
By the end of this class, participants will be able to:
- Describe the reasoning processes underpinned by mathematical graphing.
- Read line graphs
- Apply knowledge of line graphs to everyday situations
Who will be teaching?
Pamela is a PhD trained biomedical engineer who loves food, science and books. At the end of 2017, she decided to expand her career prospects and embarked on a steep learning journey to become a qualified Math and Science secondary teacher, completing a Master of Teaching in Math and Science by the end of 2019. At Laneway learning, Pamela teaches a range of science and math classes, including epigenetics, South American drinking tour and the molecular kitchen.
