Whether insects and bugs are your fascination or your ick, turning them into accessories does make them more fun! If a roach on your brooch wasn’t already a statement, build up your own colour and style to make it stand out even more.
A matte black base coat is a good first step – striking in it’s own right, or a good base to build from. Add your own simple patterns or decoration with contrasting colours and textures – metallic markers, neon paints, a touch of glitter.
Then learn to affix a brooch backing – go subtle, or utilise jewellers wire to create visible attachments part of your design.
If a brooch isn’t quite your style, you might like to turn your critters into large or small hair clips, or even fridge magnets. We have lots of accessory options.
What will we cover?
In this fun, very hands-on class we will:
- Choose our creepy crawlies: Scorpio scorpion? Centerpede? Grasshopper? The choice is yours.
- Give our insect friends a matte black base coat
- Once dry, use paints, markers and other options to add decoration. The matte black will really make colour choices stand out!
- Once dry a second time, we’ll learn to attach our brooch backings and accessory fixings
All materials provided – just come and have a wonderful time!
