What’s it all about?
Discover a new technique using mixed media, pastels (oil and chalk) and acrylic paint to create an etching masterpiece! It’s fun, exciting, creative and therapeutic as well as appropriate for any artistic level or skill.
We will be using an animal as the artistic focal point, then applying the colourful oil pastels and using a simple etching technique to create a beautiful and playful background.

- How to start creating your etching
- Be guided in ways to successfully work from photos
- Create your composition
- What materials you could use and discussion of pros and cons
- Learn the techniques which can be used to complete your artwork (after the class)
What will you need?
- 2 x A4 sized photocopies of your chosen animal
- 1 x colour photo for reference
- 1 x black and white (you will draw on this)
- Paper and pencils
- Acrylic paint (black)
- A couple acrylic brushes, and water for cleaning
- Pastels (oil and/or chalk)
- Etching tools or even toothpicks and skewers
Who will be teaching?
Born in Melbourne and residing in Elwood, Chantelle Maree Tranchina is a living and breathing inspired artist, secondary and primary school teacher. She has a passion for learning (with four degrees!), teaching and helping others.
Her degrees include contemporary arts (literature and visual arts), bachelor of teaching (primary and secondary education), fashion design and also spiritual development/meditation/healing. Chantelle has recently completed her yoga teacher training and is now a practising and certified yoga teacher!
She is also absolutely addicted to travel and finds herself taking a trip overseas as often as possible! She looks forward to meeting you all and having a bit of light-hearted creative fun.
