What’s it all about?

Come and learn some easy delicious recipes that you can easily cook yourself! In this series of cooking workshops, we will learn staple and traditional recipes from international students living
in Melbourne. These have been thought out to be simple enough to cook yourself and they are just delicious. Then we’ll all eat together!

In this session, Shivani will share two street food or snack recipes that are traditional at Diwali and all year around. We’ll cook together and then taste the dishes.

Optional: We are shopping some of the ingredients for
the cooking class together at the Victoria Market! If you want to join us
be at the door of the Multicultural Hub at 11am on the day of the
class.

This class suits absolute beginners.

What will we cover?

For this workshop, Shivani is excited to share a piece of her heritage with you all.

“Growing up in India,
Diwali was always a magical time, filled with lights, prayers, and of course, delicious food. One of
my favourites is chaat, a savoury street food that’s perfect for the festive season. I can’t wait to
show you how to make it and share a bit of the joy that comes with celebrating Diwali. Let’s cook,
eat, and celebrate together!”

Sev and Bhel puri are made with crispy fried flour discs (puri) topped with delicious condiments, veggies, herbs, ground spices and more.
