What’s it all about?
Humanity has never been as powerful as it is today. But as our power to create grows, so too does our power to destroy. And worse, the severity of the consequences of our mistakes also increases.
From more realistic scenarios (pandemics, climate change and nuclear war) to more theoretical situations (a ‘grey goo’ disaster) this class will explore the most dire of threats facing humanity and what we can do to save the world from them.
What will we cover?
- What will we do if and when the world as we know it now no longer exists?
- This class will consider current and future threats that face humanity.
- We will discuss the contributing social, economic, political and ethical factors that will contribute to the survival of our species, and perhaps many other species on the planet.
- You are encouraged to bring your own pet topics to discuss as part of the class!
